In 1998, the plaintiff was born in Monaghan General Hospital. The delivery was complicated by dystocia. In pulling the plaintiff’s head whilst the right shoulder was obstructed behind his mother’s symphysis pubis, the midwives caused a permanent injury to the plaintiff’s right brachial plexus.
The Plaintiff instructed Lavelle Partners to investigate the circumstances of her case. We obtained an expert opinion from the UK which confirmed that the delivery failed to meet the proper standard of care.
The matter was successfully settled in advance of the trial to include the Plaintiff’s costs.
