Proceeds from Counterparts: A Synergy of Law and Literature will support homelessness charity the Peter McVerry Trust.
The anthology, as well as including work by contemporary lawyer-writers, also showcases short extracts chosen by the contributing writers from the very fine writing and fascinating human stories contained in law reports, together with a note on why they chose their particular extract.
It comprises of a mix of hitherto unpublished work and reprints – short stories, novel extracts, poetry, drama and personal essay/memoir.
Contributors include judges, barristers, solicitors, law librarians, academics and others connected to the law, including the late Mr Justice Adrian Hardiman, Mr Justice Brian Cregan, John O’Donnell SC, Eoin McNamee, John Mee, Maria Hoey, Andrea Carter, Rory Walsh and Hugo Kelly.
The book will be launched in Cork at Crawford Art Gallery tonight, Wednesday 5 December, at 6pm. The Dublin launch will take place at Blackhall Place on Monday 10 December at 6pm.
